The Clinical Governance Group

Formerly Police Medical Group)

The Clinical Governance Group is a strategic body, reporting to the Police Covenant Oversight Board, chaired by the Minister of State for Crime and Policing, and the NPCC Health and Wellbeing Board / Workforce Coordination Committee. 

The Clinical Governance Group will deliver covenant and workforce clinical priorities through working sub-groups. 

Projects will be delivered in conjunction with the National Police Wellbeing Service and other police and non-police groups.

A key deliverable for the police covenant will be good healthcare provision for members and former members of the police workforce. Taking lessons from the achievements gained by the Armed Forces covenant, work will be undertaken to influence the national commissioning criterion for health service provision, and to support local engagement between police forces and NHS commissioners.

Evidence-based practice demands good data. The PHO will establish data capture and analysis systems that will inform and shape policy and practice, via health needs assessments and measurement of impact.
